When the Ponting Foundation was formed in 2008, a series of high net worth individuals (known as the ‘Ponting XI’) agreed to make substantial donations to the Foundation that would be held as reserve funds to assist the Foundation to meet its administration costs (through interest returns) without unduly accessing general public donations to meet day to day operational costs. That strategy has served the Foundation well.

Over the past two decades, whilst Ricky and Rianna have called on their extensive corporate and government networks to assist in fundraising efforts, importantly the support of everyday Australians has been the consistent driver of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

Since its inception in 2008 the Ponting Foundation has distributed almost $3,000,000 to charities. The constant, unwavering support from all Australians for every fundraising and cost-saving initiative has allowed the Ponting Foundation to distribute around 90% of its net fundraising funds over that period.
